PoINT Storage Manager with Quantum Tape Libraries

Integrating PoINT Storage Manager with Quantum Tape Libraries does not require changes to security controls or file system configuration.  It uses file reparse technologies to retain read access from Primary Storage to data which has been moved to Secondary/Archive Storage. Clients and applications access data transparently via a direct read mechanism, without a restore back to Primary Storage.

Inactive and unstructured data can be archived from Primary Storage to less-expensive storage such as Quantum Scalar® LTO Tape Libraries.  Up to four Secondary/Archive targets can be defined for replicating copies of archived data onto multiple physical and Cloud storage devices.

PoINT Storage Manager connects directly to the Quantum Scalar i3, Scalar i6, and Scalar i6000 LTO Tape libraries, and no additional software is required.

PoINT Archival Gateway with Quantum Tape Libraries

Utilizing Primary Storage systems for data that has not been accessed for months or years is an inefficient use of enterprise resources.  Many NAS and Object Storage Systems now provide an S3-based interface for archiving purposes.

PoINT Archival Gateway allows archiving and off-loading of inactive data to Quantum LTO Tape Libraries using an S3-compatible interface. The most significant feature is the method PoINT Archival Gateway uses to quickly receive data and securely write it to storage media in a format that assures the data can also be quickly accessed. PoINT Archival Gateway can handle transfer rates in excess of 1 PB per day.

Quantum LTO Tape libraries are well suited for long-term archiving, as they provide the benefits of low environmental footprint, a high level of data integrity over a long period of time, and a much lower cost per TB than all other storage technologies. Additionally, LTO tape technology has a strong roadmap for significant capacity increases. PoINT Archival Gateway integrates Quantum LTO Tape libraries into an existing storage infrastructure without the need for costly changes and disruptions.

PoINT Archival Gateway offers a standardized S3 REST API interface for applications to store archive data.  This makes the software compatible with any application that supports object-based storage using S3 REST.  PoINT Archival Gateway is designed to be independent of the storage technology or system used, meaning that users can choose and exchange storage systems with confidence.
